|NEW HIRE –ANTONIO ALVAREZ, MANAGER OF VOLUNTEER FIRE SERVICES|

Antonio got started in the fire service when he joined the Ferndale Volunteer Fire Company in 2003 where he functioned as a firefighter, EMT-B and rescue tech until 2010. While at Ferndale he was awarded one of the “top responder” awards and firefighter of the year in 2007. After Ferndale, he spent a short time as a volunteer at Earleigh Heights Volunteer Fire Company which he left to be able to spend more time with his wife and two kids.
He spent the last 12 years working at the Maryland Fire and Rescue Institute where he started as an industrial training coordinator and later moved on to become an instructional designer. Prior to that Antonio was a training coordinator for a large construction company in the Mid-Atlantic area.
Antonio holds a master’s degree in Safety Security and Emergency Management and a graduate diploma on Fire and Emergency Services management from Eastern Kentucky University. Antonio also has earned many certifications in fire and rescue disciplines.
