Operation Stay Alert is a sleep health awareness and sleep disorders screening program specifically designed for firefighters. The project went live on September 8th, 2009 and is currently open to any firefighter who is employed by one of our participating departments.
The primary goal of the program is to improve the alertness, health, sleep, and safety of firefighters. We plan to achieve this by providing easy access to information on topics regarding fatigue management and by screening firefighters for common sleep disorders. The 25 minute training covers topics such as the dangers of fatigue, sleep hygiene and caffeine use for alertness. If you are employed at one of the fire departments currently participating (see list on right), we would like to invite you to take part in our research study.
