As we celebrate the 234th birthday of our nation, Anne Arundel County is building a powerful reminder of how we must stand united in support of freedom. A memorial will be built in honor of those who lost their lives in the terrible attacks on our country on September 11, 2001. Please be part of this historic effort to raise funds for this important memorial. The memorial features as its centerpiece two steel beams from the World Trade Center. The location of memorial is at the Fire & Police Headquarters in Millersville. The historical artifacts will honor our first responders and educate future generations about the price of freedom and the importance of vigilance. County Executive John R. Leopold first requested these artifacts from the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey on September 11, 2009. We want you to join us in creating a memorial of which we can all be proud.
