
William C. Peterson, Chief
AACVFA President 1946-1947
William C. Peterson joined the Odenton Volunteer Fire Company (OVFC) in 1934. He progressed through the line officer ranks of Lieutenant and Captain and served as the Fire Marshal in 1943 and 1944. He was later appointed by the OVFC Board of Directors to serve as Fire Chief in 1946 and 1947. In 1941, William was temporarily hired as a paid driver to replace a member who was called into service in World War II. In June 1944, he was officially appointed as the second paid driver and remained in that position until October 1952 when he was forced to resign due to extended ill health.
William was active in the Anne Arundel County Volunteer Firefighters Association and was the 12th President, serving from 1946-1947. He was also one of OVFC’s delegates to the Maryland State Firemen’s Association.
