Clarence L. "Bird" Bowie
Past President 1972-1974
The Cape St. Claire Volunteer Fire Company, Inc. nominates Clarence L. “Bird” Bowie for the Anne Arundel County Volunteer Firefighters Association's' Hall of Fame Award. Mr. Bowie joined the company, not to ride apparatus, but to add his leadership and business skills to the membership. His efforts were so highly recognized that he was elected (through the chairs) President of the Anne Arundel County Volunteer Firemen’s’ Association (1972-1974). He also served as Trustee for the County Association in 1975.
Bird also was selected by the President of the Maryland State Firemen’s Association to serve as the Chair of the MSFA Executive Committee. He served admirably in this position and following his term he remained very active with various committees of the MSFA. Bird served as the President of the Cape St. Claire Volunteer Fire Company from 1971 – 1975.
