ROBERT D. COUCHENOUR, SR.
Past President 2009-2011
TO: Hall of Fame Committee, Anne Arundel County Volunteer Firefighters Association
FROM: Arundel Volunteer Fire Department
SUBJ: NOMINATION OF ROBERT D. COUCHENOUR, SR. FOR THE HALL OF FAME AWARD
The Arundel Volunteer Fire Department is pleased to submit Robert (Bob) D. Couchenour, Sr. for the Anne Arundel County Volunteer Firefighters Association Hall of Fame.
Bob has been a member of the AVFD for over 30 years. He has served in all ranks on the suppression side, including being elected Chief on three different occasions. This is an extremely important position that is time and labor intensive. Over the years, he has also served as Chairman of the Board, President, and Chaplain on the Administrative side. Simultaneously, has been a member of the AVFD Board of Directors.
Bob is presently the 1st Vice President of the AACVFA where he has been working with the County Executive’s Office. He served on his Public Safety Transition Team and former County Executive John Gary’s Team. Bob is also on the County Fire Administration and the Paid Firefighter’s Union on matters that affect volunteers. Over the years, he has served on many AACVFA committees including the Fire Advisory Board.
Not only is Bob the Superintendent of Public Works Services for the City of Annapolis but also he is in the process of finishing an Associates Degree in Business and Fire Management at Anne Arundel Community College and plans on returning to the University of Maryland to complete his BS in Fire Science.
We feel that Bob exemplifies the spirit, dedication, and hard work without which a volunteer department cannot run.
Thank you for your consideration of this outstanding candidate.
Sincerely,
Julie B. Peterson
