
Joseph Delisle and Charlie Doegen
Joseph Delisle joined the Rivera Beach Volunteer Fire Department in 1964 and was an active member until 1971. He received in-house firefighting training under Battalion Chief Alvin Lentz, then Lieutenant, and other officers. He responded to drills, fire calls, auto accidents and rescues, water rescues and body recovery, and riot duty in Baltimore. Joe spent many hours at the fire house including spending several weekends a month covering 24-hours or more at a time. Joe worked the carnivals, all donation drives, bingo’s, and participated in many parades, the longest drive was to Mt. Airy. Joe participated in formal training classes from the Red Cross in Basic First Aid, CPR, and child birth. He also attended an Arson Investigation class from the Anne Arundel County Fire Department. He trained to drive the jeep brush unit and the fire suppression system. Joe was a first aider and driver on the ambulance and was trained to use specialized equipment. As a probee, he also had assignments on the rescue unit when needed.
In September 1976, Joe joined the Community Fire Company, Inc. of Linthicum and was voted to the Board of Director’s. He was then appointed Membership Chairman, LOSAP Chairman, and was assigned to assist the Treasurer, and later assumed the duty of Treasurer which he still holds. He is Chair of the Building Maintenance Committee, Company Quartermaster, and member of the Budget Committee. Joe also held the office of President for over 5-years.
Joe is a delegate for the Anne Arundel County Volunteer Firefighter’s Association meetings and attends most every meeting.
