Ronald (Ron) Graf was a life member of the Rivera Beach Volunteer Fire Department. He was Chief for many years and was named Captain Emeritus. He was a member of the Rescue Competition Team that won the National Rescue Competition in Florida under the direction of Chief Boots Raynor. He was extremely active in the business of the fire department. He later became a member of the Earleigh Heights Volunteer Fire Department.
Ron was Past President of the Anne Arundel County Volunteer Firemen’s Association from 1979-1980. He served on the Board of Trustees from 1999-2007 and was chairman of the Convention Book Committee for many years as well. He was inducted in the Hall of Fame in 1998.
Ron was also active in the Maryland State Fireman’s Association. He served as chairman of the Awards Committee for many years. He also served the association on many other committees as well as worked at the annual convention helping with the vendors. He was inducted in the Hall of Fame in 1997.
Ron was a life member of the Maryland Fire Chief’s Association. He was also a past Field Instructor for the Maryland Fire Rescue Institute. Ron belonged to the Chesapeake Society of Fire Service Instructors.
In Ron’s spare time, he enjoyed model trains and camping. He was a salesman for Sterling Photo Engravers and served in the United States Army. Ron passed away on 19 February 2008 at the age of 72.
