Timothy A. Hammond and President Paul Demasky, Jr.
Timothy A. Hammond is a Life Member of the Odenton Volunteer Fire Company(OVFC) having joined in 1972 at the age of 16. He has served in many operational and administrative capacities over the last 43-years. He has excelled at every assignment and is part of the backbone of the fire company. He is a professional and competent role model for the new members.
He completed all required fire, emergency medical, driver/operator, and leadership courses, ultimately rising to the rank of Captain. He has been among the top company responders for many years. In 1974, Tim was severely injured along with another OVFC member in a building fire and collapse. After being rescued from the burning ruble by his fellow crew members, he was flown to the Shock Trauma Center, and after a lengthy period of recuperation, he returned to active status. He still remains an active responder today. He is the regular duty driver of Truck 28 on Thursday nights - a role he has filled since 1983. FADO Hammond takes great pride in the maintenance and cleanliness of Truck 28 and is always willing to instruct members in its equipment and operation. He often drives Truck 28 on special assignments. Rarely missing his duty night for 32-years, even when Truck 28 is out of service, Tim is quick to step up and put the second engine in service.
On the administrative side, Tim has served several terms on the OVFC Board of Directors and on various committees. However, his most notable contributions have been on the Facilities Maintenance Committee. He has a great talent for fixing things, using the skills he has acquired as a Lead Facilities Technician with the Baltimore Gas and Electric Company for 34-years. Tim does a variety of electrical, plumbing, refrigeration, and HVAC repairs, saving the fire company substantial money.
FADO Hammond has contributed immeasurably to the success of the fire company for over 40-years. He remains one of the most dedicated and capable members. He has been a positive role model for the younger members with his willing spirit and positive attitude.
