Elmer W. "Chick" Harvey

The Cape St. Claire Volunteer Fire Company, Inc. nominates Elmer W. “Chick” Harvey for the Anne Arundel County Volunteer Firefighters Associations' Hall of Fame Award. Mr. Harvey began his community activities in the area by joining the local community improvement association, holding several important committee memberships. He later became Chair of several of them before being elected President of the Association. At this time, he joined the fire company and both organizations benefitted from his membership in the other the other group. Upon ending his term as President of the Improvement Association he concentrated his efforts to the Fire Company in 1957 to 1962, and again from 1976 to 1978. Chick was elected Chief in 1971-1973, 1974-1975, 1978-1980, and again in 1984-1987. Having several connections in the county government during these times, he was a definite asset to the growth of the fire company and many of its members.
