Gayle P. Moreland
Dear Hall of Fame Committee Members:
The Deale Volunteer Fire Department and Rescue Squad (DVFD) would like to nominate Gayle P. Moreland to the Anne Arundel County Volunteer Firefighters Association Hall of Fame.
Gayle joined the Deale Volunteer Fire Department in 1980 and was the first woman member of our department and at the time one of the few women firefighters in Anne Arundel County. She served Deale over the past years as Secretary, EMS Lieutenant, and has been the President of the Department for the past 5 years. As President she is responsible for the daily administration of the Department and oversight of the budget and is the Departments contact for administrative matters with the Anne Arundel County Fire Department. Gayle is trained as a Firefighter II and an Emergency Medical Technician. She has given her time and support for all of our fundraising events, such as the annual carnival, oyster roasts and haunted house to raise funds to pay for much needed equipment. Often she was the chair or co-chair for these events. Gayle currently serves on the Anne Arundel County Volunteer Firefighters Association Marine Advisory Committee and previously was the Convention Committee Co-Chair when Deale was host. She is currently a delegate to the association and has served in that capacity for numerous years.
Gayle has served the Maryland State Firemens Association as a member of the Convention Committee and on the Special Activities Committee. She is currently and has for numerous years served as the Chair Delegate to the Maryland State Firemens Association annual convention.
We request your favorable consideration for Gayle P. Moreland as an inductee into the Anne Arundel County Volunteer Firefighters Association Hall of Fame.
Sharon Elliott
Secretary
