SUBJ: NOMINATION OF ROBERT TAYLOR NOBLE FOR THE HALL OF FAME AWARD
The Maryland City Volunteer Fire Department wishes to submit the name of Robert Taylor Noble for consideration of the Hall of Fame Award. Robert Noble became a member of the Maryland City Volunteer Fire Department in October 2000. He has served as an active non-riding performing various administrative duties. Prior to joining the Maryland City Volunteer Fire Department, Mr. Noble had been a member of the Green Haven Volunteer Fire Company and the Armiger Volunteer Fire Company after Green Haven and Powhatan Beach merged in August 1990. He began his volunteer service in December 1968 and is a Life Member of the Green Haven and Armiger Volunteer Fire Companies. During his membership with the Green Haven Volunteer Fire Company, he served as their Vice-President, Chaplain, Photographer, and Board of Director.
Since joining the Maryland City Volunteer Fire Department, Mr. Noble, “Bob” has served on the Training and Scholarship Committee and the Membership Committee. During this time he has been instrumental in providing assistance to our members who are seeking higher education. He provides mentorship and guidance for the prospective college and trade school students with tuition assistance programs, scholarships and assistance with the application process. He also assisted in the recruitment and retention of company members.
Bob Chaired the Anne Arundel County Volunteer Firefighters Association Training and Scholarship Committee for many years. On this committee Bob was the advocate for the younger members of the association, continually providing information and guidance on the educational benefits of the fire service. Even though he is no longer serving on this committee, Bob continues to gather information on colleges and scholarships for our members. Mr. Noble was recognized by the County Executive Janet Owens for his many dedicated years of service to the citizens of Anne Arundel County.
Mr. Noble is a contributing editor to the Pennsylvania Firemen published by the Lancaster County Volunteer Firemen’s Association. Reaching readers across the nation with information on training and scholarships.
Mr. Noble has always made education, training and professional qualifications his top priority to himself and he imparts this to every fire service member he can reach. An example of this is that at the age of seventy-five Bob has maintained his Emergency Medical Technician Basic Certification even though he has shifted his duties to being a mentor.
