Dear Hall of Fame Committee Members:
I would like the committee to consider Jay R. Olson (Chief 34) for an inductee into the Anne Arundel County Volunteer Firefighters Association Hall of Fame.
Distinguished service
* 25 years service as a member of the Ferndale Volunteer Fire Company
* Approximately 18 years as Chief
* Moved thru the ranks quickly
* In the 80’s was one of the youngest Chiefs in Anne Arundel County
* Holds the rank of Chief of one of the largest databases in the county
* Is Chief to one of the busiest companies in A.A. Co. with 4000 volunteer responses in 2005
* He sits on the Chiefs Committee for the Association
* Recruited his wife and son into the fire service
* As a husband and father his sacrifices are also important, he supports his wife and son
in their commitment and goals to their home companies, the Association, and the state.
In closing I would like to say that every individual is different, we each set our own goals in life. We all measure our accomplishments differently. But within our organization we all seem to strive for one common goal which is our commitment to the fire service. Jay Olson is Ferndale Volunteer Fire Company. As Chief he instills in his members that each person is a piece of Ferndale and as a whole we are a family. In our family each of us have different jobs to do. But each day we should all ask the same question. What have I done for the Fire Service today?
Thank you,
Tabatha Lynn Hetrick
