David E. (Dave) Reese joined the Community Fire Company, Inc. of Linthicum in September 1953 at the age of 16 and was an active member for 3-years.  During this time, he received in-house training and was on duty nights and weekends for fire calls.  He entered the Army in January 1956 and served on active duty until 1959 when he transferred to the Army Reserve until his discharge in 1962.

Dave worked for Proctor and Gamble for 38-years as a line production worker.  After leaving Proctor and Gamble, he took a position with the Anne Arundel County Sheriff’s Department as a Deputy.  He was in charge of transporting prisoners to and from the courthouse for their hearings.  He held this position for 11-years until he was injured on the job protecting the court from a prisoner who tried to attack the judge after sentencing.

Dave became a member of the administrative board of Company 32 in 1977 and became more active in the fire company when he was voted into a leading position on the Board of Directors.  In 1979, he was voted in as Vice President until 1985 when he was voted in as President.  He served in this position until his death in 2006.

During Dave’s tenure in the company’s administration, he was part of the Building, Chiefs, Membership, Finance, and Budget committees.  He was also responsible for procuring the mail from the post office, reviewing it, and distributing it to the Board for correspondence or business matters.  He spent many hours per week at the fire house discussing the needs of the volunteers and professional firefighters.  After these discussions with the fire staff, he went to Fire Headquarters to talk to the Chiefs about their needs, the building, and the equipment.

Dave was a delegate to the Anne Arundel County Volunteer Firefighters Association and the Maryland State Firemen’s Association from 1979 thru 2006.  He attended the County Association meetings and conventions until 3-years before his death.

Dave had 44-years of credited service under the LOSAP program and 52-years of membership with the Community Fire Company, Inc.  of Linthicum.  He is most deserving of induction in the Hall of Fame.
