William C. “Bill” Smith, Chief
It is an honor and privilege for the Earleigh Heights Volunteer Fire Company to submit the name of our William C. “Bill” Smith in the Anne Arundel County Volunteer Firefighters Association Hall of Fame for 2006. Bill has committed 55 plus years to the fire service at the company, county, and state levels. It is our strong belief that Bill’s leadership and dedication record makes him most deserving of this tribute in recognition of his lifetime of service.
Bill has held every line officer position within the Earleigh Heights Volunteer Fire Company. He has served on the Board of Directors, served as Vice-President and President, and has held the office of Company Secretary for the past fifteen years.
Bill always is available to work our fundraisers never missing a Bull Roast, Shrimp feast, or carnival and you will most likely see him on Wednesday nights at our bingo if he is not at his second home in Ocean City.
On the county level Bill served on several committees for the Anne Arundel County Volunteer Firefighters Association. Besides working on committees within the county association, Bill spent many hours staffing the county central alarm radios before the county created the present day Fire Alarm.
Therefore, the officers and members of the Earleigh Heights Volunteer Fire Company deem William C. “Bill” Smith to be most deserving of being inducted into the Anne Arundel County Volunteer Firefighters Association Hall of Fame, and thus submit his name in consideration to receive this prestigious honor.
Respectfully submitted,
Charles Austin
President
