Michael Sohn and Charlie Doegen

The Officers and Members of the Earleigh Heights Volunteer Fire Company are proud to submit the name of Michael (Mike) Sohn for the Hall of Fame.

Mike joined the Earleigh Heights Volunteer Fire Company on 7 October 1982.  Over his tenure of 29-years with the company, he has filled many roles with the company including line officer and administrative positions.  He served as Chief for 5-years and as President for 1-year.  While not actively riding the apparatus now, Mike keeps up on his training while actively supporting the fire company in a variety of other capacities.  He serves on the Board of Director’s, helps keep the building in good condition, and helps with all fundraising events.  Because of his dedication to the fire company, many members always look to him for advice or help with almost anything that is needed.  Mike has made volunteering for the fire company a family business.  His son, Bryan, is also a firefighter for Earleigh Heights, his wife, Pat, is Past President of the Ladies Auxiliary for the company and the county ladies auxiliary, his daughter, Nicole, is a member of the Ladies Auxiliary, and his son-in-law, Victor is also a member of the fire company.

Mike has been instrumental with the Anne Arundel County Volunteer Firefighter’s Association as well.  While he has not served in any of the offices, he has been instrumental in keeping the company involved with the Association.  He also attends nearly every association meeting and reports back to the Board of Director’s and the company on the happenings of the meetings.  He always advertises the meetings and looks for new people to get involved and attend them.

 Mike serves as a role model for many and is known throughout the fire company and the county association for his strong leadership skills.
