CARROLL E. WILSON
Carroll (Ed) Wilson started his Anne Arundel County fire service with the Jessup Volunteer Fire Department in 1952. While at Jessup he was a pump operator, line officer and member of the Board of Directors. Whle on a call in the Jessup area he fell through the 2nd floor all the way to the basement. He was hospitalized for several weeks.
In 1962 Ed and his family moved to Ferndale and he joined the Ferndale Volunteer Fire Company. He attended many University of Maryland Fire Extension Office fire classes as well as Maryland Fire Rescue Institute classes. In December, 1979 he became an Emergency Medical Technician. At Ferndale he served as Assistant Chief and Lieutenant on the operational side and as Secretary on the administrative side. He served many years on the Board of Directors. He was the Point of Contact for the hall and hall rentals. He was very active on the fundraising committee and was in charge of bingo for many years until his health would no longer let him do it. He was also on the Building and Grounds committee. For his many years of dedicated service he was awarded the Barney King award and Life Membership. Two of the highest awards given by the Ferndale Volunteer Fire Company. He served the company any way he could until his passing in 2006.
Ed was active in the Anne Arundel County Volunteer Firemen’s Association. He was inducted in the Hall of Fame in 1999.
