LT Louis Parks
Deale Volunteer Fire Depaartment and Rescue Squad

Our company would like to nominate Fire Lieutenant, Louis Parks of Company 42 for Firefighter/EMT of the Quarter.

Lieutenant Parks has set the bar for the rest of the company by his technique of leading by-example.

LT. Parks is an active responder, having completed FFI, FFII, Fire Officer I and II, Ariel Ops, Technical Rescue, Mate I and II, EMT, EVOC, ICS 100, 200, 700, 800, Hazmat Ops, Hazmat Awareness, Bloodborne Pathogens, among other routine and countless hours of in-house training with both the Career and Volunteer personnel. His training and positive attitude makes him a current and engaged officer.

Lt. Parks also performs collateral duties assisting the Fire Chief with the equipment, apparatus and company records.

He attends/participates in 98% of all company sponsored events and fund-raising activities. He has selflessly stepped up at Christmas to gather names of families in need, given monies from the department to purchases gifts, wrapping them and arranging a joyful delivery to the families. Most recently our department suffered a loss of a relative of another Officer in our department, and with the temporary absence of the Fire Chief, Lt. Parks arranged for apparatus and needed personnel to be present and assist in the family’s desires during the funeral and arranged and prepared the reception for family, friends and guests following the funeral.

Lt. Parks makes himself available to members in need of professional or personal assistance and participates in riding on tall the duty crew nights, he will take the driver’s seat in the absence of a FADO allowing other qualified personnel to ride “Command.” He is well respected by both the Career and Volunteer.

Lt. Parks is a motivated individual, self-starter and team player. He shows a great deal of respect to all, and a commitment to the fire service before himself.

Respectfully,

Russell Lancaster, III
Fire Chief, Co. 42
