The Odenton Volunteer Fire Company (OVFC) is proud to nominate Susan Drinnon for the Association's Firefighter/EMT/Administrative Member of the Quarter Award. Since joining the company, Susan has consistently made herself available to perform various support and administrative duties for the fire company.

After serving several years on the fund drive committee, Susan recently took the reigns as chair of the annual mailout fundraiser. The position of mailout fund drive chair is one of the most critical administrative duties that a member can take on given that this fund raiser is our company's single largest annual revenue source

One might think that as the chair of the committee, the only duties are leading the committee and ensuring that the members of the committee complete tasks on time and the fund drive goes off without a hitch. However, that is not the case with this committee. As it turns out, the mailout fund drive typically turns out as a "one man (woman) show". The chairperson many times - as is the case with Susan's efforts - ends up all falling on the chairperson.

The fund drive usually runs from May through August. However, the real work begins as early as February each year. As the chair, Susan begins gathering information for the materials to be mailed which requires contacting all committees and the company leadership. Susan also make contact with the contracted company to line up the schedule for materials to be developed, printed and mailed. Many emails and telephone calls - many, many hours of effort are put into the preparation - and Susan handles it nearly single-handedly.

Once the mailing is out and returns come in, Susan then handles the processing of every response - opening all of the envelopes, preparing the raised funds for our treasurer to be deposited in the bank. Susan then continues to work with the contracted company to ensure thank you notes are sent to all donators. The program begins to wind down in September but donations trickle in through the rest of the calendar year. Susan is always there making sure every donation is accounted for and processed as required.

Susan has been a committed and dedicated administrative member of the Odenton Fire Company for several years and is always ready to help with any project. Therefore, Susan is very deserving of recognition as the Association's Firefighter/EMT/Administrative Member of the Quarter.

Respectively submitted,
