The Odenton Volunteer Fire Company (OVFC) is proud to nominate Brendan Hayward for the Anne Arundel County Volunteer Firefighters Association’s Firefighter/EMT/Administration Member of the Quarter Award for the fourth quarter of 2012.
Since joining Odenton Volunteer Fire Company in March 2011, Brendan has excelled and has become a valuable member of not only this company but the community at large. While serving full time as a military officer at Fort Meade, Brendan has completed both Firefighter I and Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) courses at the same time and earned a 100% on the EMT written final.
After his required courses he again completed the clearance process to ride the engines and ambulance at the same time and was quickly riding and providing services to the citizens of the greater Odenton area. His regular duty night is Wednesday night, but you can often find him there on the weekend and other nights helping out and running calls. He is always ready to assist in cleaning apparatus or preventive maintenance of tools or even just day to day station house work.
He has taken a very active role in helping other new members learn their firefighter I and EMT skills in addition to familiarizing new members with the apparatus. He takes his role seriously and demonstrates a passion for his service. His recent performance on a fire in which our crews performed a victim rescue was evidence of how serious he takes his service.
Such efforts should not go unrewarded. The Odenton Volunteer Fire Company strongly recommends Brendan Hayward for the AACVFA Volunteer Firefighter/EMT/Administration Member of the Quarter Award.
Respectfully submitted,
Jimmie Allen
