ANNE ARUNDEL COUNTY VOLUNTEER FIREFIGHTERS ASSOCIATION ANNOUNCES THE WINNERS OF THE FF/EMT, ADMINISTRATIVE MEMBER OF THE QUARTER FOR THE SECOND QUARTER OF 2010

The Odenton Volunteer Fire Company (OVFC) is proud to jointly nominate Wylie Donaldson and Wilbert (Bill) Lewis for the Association's Firefighter /EMT/Administrative Members of the Quarter Award.

Over the several past years, Wylie & Bill have taken the lead in planning and organizing the fire company's annual carnival in May. The carnival is one of the primary sources of income for the fire company, but due to weather variables is also the most risky, and so requires careful planning and execution.

Wylie & Bill start many months before the carnival, working with the carnival ride operator, planning the food requirements, and estimating the types and quantities of games and food that will be in demand. They insure that all equipment is serviced and cleaned, and that all supplies are available in time.

Once the carnival begins, Wylie & Bill organize the duty crews, assuring the best match of skills to positions. They carefully track daily operations and order and purchase all food and supplies daily in order to reduce waste and maximize income. They constantly monitor the operation, making sure customers are satisfied, that crews are operating effectively, and insuring that supplies never run low.

They also monitor the financial records of the carnival, constantly looking for ways to reduce costs, improve services, and maximize returns. As a longtime Chief and company officer, Wylie is highly experienced in organizing and motivating people. As a former small business owner in Odenton, Bill is well equipped to manage the business operations of the carnival, and brings a wealth of experience to the task. Together, they make a dynamic team that combines their unique talents to insure a successful carnival operation year after year.

Wylie & Bill's experience, skills, and management ability have directly contributed to the financial success of the annual carnival, providing much-needed revenue for fire company operations. Odenton Volunteer Fire Company is proud to recommend both Wylie L. Donaldson and Wilbert Lewis for Anne Arundel County FF/EMT/admin members of the quarter.
