Virginia T. Browning
Past President 1974-1975
January 31, 1994
The Ladies Auxiliary of the Deale Volunteer Fire Department and Rescue Squad, Inc., proudly nominate Virginia T. Browning to the Hall of Fame of the Ladies Auxiliary to the Anne Arundel County Volunteer Firefighters Association.
Virginia T. Browning, better known as Mrs. B., is a life member of the Deale Ladies Auxiliary with 32 years of service to the Auxiliary, and Fire Company as well. She has served as President (11 years), Treasurer (17 years), Kitchen Chairman for Oyster Roast and Carnival, Ways and Means Chairman, and organized the canteen for fire fighters whenever required for many years. She marched with the Marching Unit in the 1970's. She is always willing and offers her services unselfishly to the Auxiliary and Fire Company. She is well respected by members of the volunteer and career fire service and considers them her "family."
In addition to her dedication to Deale VFD & RS, Mrs. B. has served through the chairs of the Ladies Auxiliary to the AACVFA and on numerous committees, and is currently the Secretary to the Past Presidents Club of LA-AACVFA. She continues her efforts to serve through the Ladies Auxiliary to the Maryland State Firemen’s Association on various committees, including Bessie Marshall, Ways and Means, Auditing, Sunshine, and Conference Chairman. She never misses attending the Annual Convention of the MSFA.
Away from her auxiliary work, Mrs. B. is a life member of the PTA, she has received honors from the Board of Education for her services to the school board, and has a plaque on display at Deale Elementary School recognizing many years of dedicated service at Deale Elementary School. She was instrumental in organizing the Ladies of the Elks to Deale Lodge 2528, served as their first President, held other offices and chaired numerous committees including Catering Chairman, Ways and Means Chairman, Parliamentarian and was honored as Lady Elk of the Year in 1993.
Mrs. B. has a family dedicated to fire service – sons who receive awards for the top five fire and ambulance calls yearly. One son is currently a fire chief and daughters who follow her footsteps in service to the auxiliary and fire company.
On behalf of the member of the Deale Ladies Auxiliary, I hope that Virginia T. Browning will be considered for induction into the Hall of Fame.
Respectfully submitted,
Robin Browning, President
