Bertha was an active member in the Green Haven Volunteer Fire Department Ladies Auxiliary for over 35-years and was a life member. She served as Secretary for many, many years. The Ladies Auxiliary was very active in fundraising to include carnivals, bingos, and $5.00 parties.

 

Bertha was an honorary member of the Maryland City Auxiliary and the Odenton Ladies Auxiliary.

 

Bertha served as President of the Ladies Auxiliary to the Anne Arundel County Volunteer Firemen’s Association from 1979-1980. Bertha attended as many of the meetings as she could and was active in the functions the ladies took on. An interesting note is, Bertha usually got lost going to the different functions whenever she had to drive herself and her sister, Annie Klein. She was inducted into the Hall of Fame in July 2003.

 

Bertha regularly attended the Maryland State Firemen’s Association and Ladies Auxiliary conventions in Ocean City each year. She could always be found sitting near the front. Bertha regularly attended the Spring and Fall Conferences of the Ladies Auxiliary to the Maryland State Firemen’s Association.
