Elizabeth was an active member of the Brooklyn Volunteer Fire Department Ladies Auxiliary.

Elizabeth served as President of the Ladies Auxiliary to the Anne Arundel County Volunteer Firemen’s Association from 1971-1972. When Elizabeth served as President, she and her daughter (Betty Cook 1964-1965) was the first mother and daughter to serve as President of the County Ladies Auxiliary. She was inducted in the Hall of Fame in 2003.
