Years of Service – Life Member of Odenton Ladies Auxiliary (35-years) and 10-years at Rivera Beach Fire Company
Offices held – Treasurer for numerous years and Color Bearer
Committees – Chairman of the Auditing Committee, Ways and Means, Thursday Summer Bingo, monthly lottery, summer car washes, and many others.
Other service to the fire department – worked and chaired many catering jobs such as weddings, lunches, dinners, meetings for the county association, MSFA Fire Chief’s meetings, annual carnival, train show, flea market, and making candy to sell. Set up the Odenton ladies for participation in the county convention games and marching in the parades. No job was too small or too big for her.
Special awards or recognition received – received the President’s Award and the Board of Director’s Award in 2008 from Rivera Beach.
Comments – Gloria has been in the fire department family since she was a child. Her father, Wesley Hood, was a very active member and engineman until he retired. Her mother was a life member of the auxiliary having joined in the 1940’s. During her early years as a member, Gloria met and married one of our active firemen, David Lewis. Gloria has actively supported David with his projects in the Anne Arundel County VFA and the MSFA.
Gloria and David have a daughter, Tracy and a son, David. They also have three grandchildren – Ashley, Tina, and Noah.
