GERTRUDE MCINTYRE

Gertrude was an active member of the Jessup Volunteer Fire Department Ladies Auxiliary.

Gertrude served as President of the Ladies Auxiliary to the Anne Arundel County Volunteer Firemen’s Association from 1942-1944. She was presented the first Past President’s pin on March 9, 1944. She was inducted in the Hall of Fame in 2003.

In addition to her volunteer service with the Ladies Auxiliary, Gertrude wrote the weekly Jessup local news column for the Maryland Gazette, Laurel News Leader, and the Ellicott City Times. She was also an active member of the Women’s Club of Jessup and St. Lawrence’s Catholic Church.
