Marian Nicholson
Marian Nicholson joined the Arundel Volunteer Fire Department Ladies Auxiliary on February 1, 2003. She promptly began serving on several committees and soon became a steadfast supporter of our auxiliary’s goals and objectives, often recommending new fundraising initiatives for the auxiliary’s consideration. She has served as the auxiliary’s Chaplain for the past several years in addition to serving on many committees.
Marian has been supportive of all our fundraising activities, most notably our annual Christmas tree sales, which she loves to cook chili for those cold nights at the tree stand; our Christmas bus trip to Harrisburg, PA; and the Basket Bingo fundraisers for the Anne Arundel County Ladies Auxiliary and the County Association.
In addition to her continuous service in support of the volunteer fire service, Marian began her journey up through the chairs of the Ladies Auxiliary to the Anne Arundel County Volunteer Firefighter’s Association to serve its membership and further its objectives. She served as President from 2009-2011. She was very successful in her efforts to achieve the association’s goals.
Even with Marian's many contributions previously cited, she has been very active with the Ladies Auxiliary to the Maryland State Firemen’s Association. For the past 16-years, she has served as Chairman of the Pins and Badges committee. She has been honored by winning the prestigious Honey Award in 2007 and becoming a member of the Hall of Fame for the Ladies Auxiliary to the Maryland State Firemen’s Association also in 2007.
Marian has also been very active in the Laurel Volunteer Fire Department Ladies Auxiliary and is a life member. She served many offices as well as countless committees over the years. She remains very active in the Prince George’s County Volunteer Fire Department Ladies Auxiliary and served as President from 1992-1993.
