Ethel Nutwell
January 31, 1994
The Ladies Auxiliary of the Deale Volunteer Fire Department and Rescue Squad, Inc., proudly nominate Ethel Nutwell to the Hall of Fame of the Ladies Auxiliary to the Anne Arundel County Volunteer Firefighters Association.
Ethel Nutwell, better known as “Miss Ethel”, has been a member of our auxiliary for over 40 years. She has served as President and Vice-President, Kitchen chairman for Oyster Roast and Carnival, Ways and Means Chairman, and Sunshine Chairman, as well as serving on other committees. She was also a member of the Marching Unit in the 1950’s. She was granted Life Membership after 25 years of service.
In addition to her dedicated service to Deale, Miss Ethel served as Sunshine Chairman for the Ladies Auxiliary to the Anne Arundel County Volunteer Firefighters Association n the 1960’s. She is active with her church and serves on various committees within the church.
Deale takes pride in the fact that Miss Ethel has remained an active member over the years, fully supporting the Auxiliary as well as the Fire Company. She has been a great source in retaining the history of Deale.
Miss Ethel’s family has also shown a dedication to fire service. Her late husband and son were active volunteers at Deale and currently her grandson is “learning the ropes” of helping out at the fire station. Whenever extra help or baked goods are needed for a function, Miss Ethel never hesitates to call on other family members for their support.
I trust this information will be helpful to your decision in the selection of Ethel Nutwell to the Hall of Fame.
On behalf of the member of the Deale Ladies Auxiliary, I hope that Ethel Nutwell will be considered for induction into the Hall of Fame.
Respectfully submitted,
Robin Browning, President
Ladies Auxiliary, DVFD & RS
