MARY OLSEN

Mary Olsen joined the Riva Volunteer Fire Department Ladies Auxiliary in 1943. She served as President for many years and was a very active member. She also served as Vice President. Mary served on the Ways and Means committee for many years. She was most remembered for selling lots of raffle tickets. She worked bingos, strawberry festivals, bake sales, yard sales, dinners, and even served food at the county fair. She was granted life membership in September 1993.
Mary and Louise Shepard helped organize the Arnold and Deale Ladies Auxiliaries.
Mary served as President of the Ladies Auxiliary to the Anne Arundel County Volunteer Firemen’s Association from 1954-1955. She served on the Ways and Means committee for several years. She continued to be an active member in the Ladies Auxiliary until her health declined. She was inducted in the Hall of Fame in September 1994.
Mary was also active in the Ladies Auxiliary to the Maryland State Firemen’s Association.
Mary gave her all to make the Riva Ladies Auxiliary, the Anne Arundel County Volunteer Firemen’s Association Ladies Auxiliary, and the Ladies Auxiliary to the Maryland State Firemen’s Association better organizations.
