Dalene Robinson

The Maryland City Volunteer Fire Department Auxiliary is proud to nominate Dalene Robinson for induction into the Hall of Fame. Dalene has been a member of our auxiliary for almost eight years. In that period, she has served as Chaplain for one year and Vice-President for two years. She served as telephone Chairperson for one year and was fire prevention co-chairperson in 1988-1989 and served as fire prevention chairman for the 1989-1990 term until spring 1993. As well as being the auxiliary’s fire prevention chairperson, she was also our fire department’s fire prevention chairperson. In this capacity, she coordinated the company’s annual Fire Prevention Open House and conducted the annual poster contest in the two local elementary schools in conjunction with Fire Prevention week. As Open House coordinator, she was responsible for securing judges to judge the poster contest, obtaining trophies and ribbons for same, having a supply of fire prevention related materials on hand for distribution, demonstrations of Stop, Drop, and Roll and Crawl Low Under Smoke as well as arranging for equipment from  neighboring companies, and any special appearances. Such appearances over the years included Smoky the Bear, Hector the Fire Safety Clown, and dalmatians. Each year she conducted the Open House, it was always an event our company could be proud of. Dalene is also a member of the auxiliary’s Ways and Means Committee. She is the point of contact for the fall bus trip and is also a point of contact for the Sports Card Shows our auxiliary has. She works all events our auxiliary has from beginning to end. She more than willingly bakes goods for our fundraisers or when the local jeweler asks us for donations of baked goods for the less fortunate. Dalene is also responsible for ensuring the engraving is done on the various plaques that the auxiliary maintains to make sure all information is up to date.

The Auxiliary Member of the Year Award was created in 1985. The auxiliary members vote for who they feel has done the most in the Auxiliary during the year and deserves special recognition. Dalene was selected twice for this award. For the year ending 1989, Dalene was also one of the recipient’s of the President’s award from the fire department side of the house. She received this award for her dedicated service to Company 27. She also received a Letter of Appreciation for the 1991-1992 year from the auxiliary for locating many pictures to update the auxiliary’s and fire department’s history books, as well as picking up items for the good of the auxiliary, and goody bag items for the county meetings when it is our turn to host them.

Dalene is also certified as an Emergency Medical Technician. She has responded many times to the station when the call came out for, “Company 27 Members, fill your station.” Due to health reasons, she no longer rides the ambulance, but presently serves on the Membership Committee for the fire department. She also goes on the fire department’s annual fund drive collecting donations.

Dalene served as Pins and Badges Chairperson for the County Auxiliary for the year 1991-1992 and is currently serving again as chairperson for the 1993-1994 year. She has served on the county auxiliary fire prevention committee for several years as co-chairman. She is also on the Buddy Bear Committee.

Dalene has served on the Anne Arundel County Volunteer Firefighters Association Fire Prevention Committee for many years and is currently serving as co-chairperson. She has been very active in several Anne Arundel County Miss Fire Prevention pageants and has always been more than willing to do whatever is necessary to make the pageant run as smooth as possible.

Dalene has served on several committees for the Ladies Auxiliary to the Maryland State Firemen’s Association. She served on the Bessie Marshall committee for the 1988-1989 year and has been serving on the Transportation Committee from June 1990 to present.

Dalene continually donates her time to the auxiliary and is most deserving of this recognition.

Respectfully submitted,
Patti Kidwell
President, MCVFD Auxiliary
