COMMITTEES: Community Club Awards, Sunshine, Fertig (miscellaneous items – calendar towels, pocket calendars, etc. out of the back of her van for many years. Fertig sales was a committee of the auxiliary at one time.)
OTHER SERVICE TO THE FIRE DEPARTMENT: Board of Trustee for fire department, member of fire department. Donated many items needed for the fire department.
SPECIAL AWARDS OR RECOGNITION RECEIVED: Two months prior to her death, Gladys was awarded a special award from the fire department and auxiliary for her dedicated service and support to both organizations over the years. Numerous Service Awards. Each year, the Maryland City Auxiliary sponsors an award at the State Convention n Gladys’ name for fire prevention. It is the third overall winner for fire prevention.
COMMENTS: Gladys served the LAAACVFA as President 1982-1983. She served on numerous committees for the county as well as State auxiliary. She was very active and a firm believer in fire prevention. She actively demonstrated the Stop, Drop, and Roll techniques to the area children, despite her failing health. She attended many fire prevention meetings, symposiums, and programs to learn more about fire prevention so she could share it with others. Whenever something needed done in our fire department or auxiliary, you could always count on Gladys to be there helping in whatever way she could. She was an extremely generous person.
