CIRCUMSTANCES OF DEATH: While transporting a patient to South Baltimore General Hospital, Firefighter Corcoran, who was driving the ambulance, lost control of the vehicle as it slid on the wet roadway.
The ambulance struck a signpost. Corcoran died from his injuries.

Requiem High Mass was sung at Holy Trinity Catholic Church Tuesday morning for a 27-year-old Glen Burnie Volunteer Fire Department ambulance driver killed in line of duty.
Hundreds of Anne Arundel County Volunteer Firemen paid a final tribute to Lawrence J. Corcoran, ambulance Driver killed in a crash Friday when taking an injured victim to South Baltimore General Hospital.
Officials of the County Fire Prevention Bureau joined the chiefs and men of county fire companies in attending services at the Singleton Funeral Home in Glen Burnie, Mass at Holy Trinity Church and internment at Glen Haven Memorial Park.
And scores of firefighters lined Ritchie Highway with fire trucks to salute the funeral cortege as it passed.
Fireman Corcoran, 8 Central Avenue, N.W. Glen Burnie, was killed when his ambulance skidded on wet roads into a sign post, on Hanover Street in Baltimore.
An eyewitness at the accident scene reported that two ambulance aid men and the patient in the ambulance were injured in the accident.
They were identified as Gilbert Dicus, 17, aid man: Howard Pyle, 17, aid man: and Edward Bortner, 33, patient.
It was reported that th patient had been injured at his work at the Tidewater Hardwood Lumber in Harmons and was being taken to South Baltimore General Hospital.
A hospital spokesman Tuesday afternoon reported that Bortner was in very serious condition and that Pyle was in good condition. Fire Department officials noted that Pyle was scheduled to undergo an operation today, Thursday. Dicus is home recuperating.
SERVICE
Fireman Corcoran joined the Glen Burnie Fire Company in 1955. He was a graduate of the basic course in firefighting of the University of Maryland and a graduate of American Red Cross First Aid courses.
He was also a graduate of the fire department officers training course. Corcoran was a member of the Glen Burnie Imporvement Association.
FUNERAL
Officiating at the mass was Father Arthur Dastress, who noted that "Death struck in line of duty, in line of Charity."
Pallbearers were Forrest Wharran, Russell Clark, William Martin, Jack Inkrote, Thomas Nevin, Jr., and James Hasselhoff, all members of the Glen Burnie Volunteer Fire Department.
Corcoran, son of the late John J. Sr. and Mrs. Elizabeth A. Corcoran, is survived by sisters Mrs. Margaret Clark, Mrs. Maureen Alberado, Miss Rosemary Corcoran, and Miss Veronica Corcoran; and by brothers John J. Jr., Thomas, Patrick, Edward, Daniel, and Frank Corcoran.
