Cat saved from house fire.
July 3, 2020, Friday morning member of the Ferndale Volunteer Fire Company responded to a house fire in the 34-15 box while fighting the fire on the first level of the home firefighter DeAndre Thomas found the family’s cat and exited the house. Oxygen and the Pet oxygen masks were retrieved from Engine 343. Oxygen was administered to the cat by the crew and the cat started reviving. Family members then transported the cat to an Emergency Veterinarian where the cat was treated and released.
The oxygen masks were donated to the Ferndale Volunteer Fire company by Air for Paws, whose goal is to equip all first responders with resuscitation kits.
The Red Cross was utilized for the occupants, damages $15,000, and cause undetermined.
