Fire and EMS dispatchers are most often the first person contacted when an emergency arises. In some of the most harrowing moments, that dispatcher takes down vital information, alerts the proper response units, and helps to reassure the person on the other end that help is on the way, all while staying calm and professional. They carry the tremendous burden of being on the front line of many types of emergency calls and the 9-1-1 system would be nothing without them.
