Louis A. D’Camera
Past President 1991-1993
Date of Death: July 23, 2005
The Officers and Members of the Odenton Volunteer Fire Company are proud to submit the name of one of our members for the Anne Arundel County Volunteer Firefighters Association Hall of Fame Award.
Louis A. D’Camera joined the Odenton Volunteer Fire Company on November 13, 1979. Almost immediately, Louis demonstrated his ability to accept greater leadership responsibility with the company and filled a number of administrative and suppression ranks with our company. He has served as a member of our Board of Directors almost continuously since 1985, including a ten year term as our company’s Treasurer and most recently became our company President this year. He has also held a suppression rank position within our company in almost every year since 1985, including a term as Chief of the company from 1995 through 1998.
Louis’ leadership qualities and ability to motivate members is evident everywhere in the Odenton Volunteer Fire Company. He maintains a strong following and holds the respect of all of the company’s members. His roles as both an administrative member and suppression line officer make Louis one of the company’s most valued assets. Louis returns the same respect back to the company and its members, spending countless hours on duty each week and always taking the time to assist members with details or initiating work tasks to help improve the operation of the department.
Louis has never limited his role in the fire service to the front door steps of the Odenton Volunteer Fire Company. He has maintained an active role in the Anne Arundel County Volunteer Firefighters Association. He served as President from 1991-1993 and as Treasurer in 1996 and 1997.
Louis has also served in several positions with the Maryland State Firemen’s Association, including a tenure as Anne Arundel County’s representative to the MSFA Board of Review and currently as a committee member on the MSFA Low Interest Loan Committee. With his multitude of roles and outstanding service to the firefighters of this state, Louis has become well known across this County and the State of Maryland.
As the above testimony clearly describes, Louis A. D’Camera has dutifully served the interests of the Odenton Volunteer Fire Company and the fire service across Anne Arundel County and the state of Maryland for over 23-years. Louis serves as a role model and mentor for each person that he meets. In consideration of his career achievements as a volunteer firefighter, it is with great pride and honor that the Odenton Volunteer Fire Company submits the name of Louis A. D’Camera for consideration for the Anne Arundel County Volunteer Firefighters Association Hall of Fame Award.
