Kathleen “Kitty” Gross joined the AVFD Ladies Auxiliary (AVFD LA) on October 4, 1988.  She held various elective offices in the Ladies Auxiliary.  She has been the Auxiliary’s Tax Incentive Coordinator since the Ladies Auxiliary to the Maryland State Firemen’s Association program began in 2001.  Much effort goes into maintaining the records.  Kitty has assisted in countless fundraisers and events in support of the AVFD and AVFD LA.  Kitty was inducted in the AACVFA Ladies Auxiliary Hall of Fame in July 2011.

Kitty has also been very active in the AVFD and served as chairperson on many committees.  She presently serves as Chairperson of the Grants Committee and is responsible for proposals for grants and 508 awards.  She served as AVFD Vice President eight years ago and has been President the last seven years.  As President, she completed the application for AVFD’s successful conversion from a 501C4 to a 501C.  She also completed the application for the AVFD VCAF loan for Engine 71 in 2016.

Kitty is active in the AACVFA and has been a delegate for the AVFD.  She has served four years on the AACVFA LOSAP committee.  In September 2019, she was elected Second Vice President of the Association.  Kitty is active on the Legislative Committee for the AACVFA and testifies before the County Council and Maryland Legislature on matters affecting the fire service. 

Kitty retired in 2005 from a career in information systems.
