Stephen R. Race of the Arundel VFD (AVFD) was inducted in the Hall of Fame on
Highlights of Steve’s volunteer fire department service in Anne Arundel County include:
1994 – 2003: Member of the Odenton Volunteer Fire Company having worked his way through the ranks to Chief
2003 – Present: Member of the AVFD having worked his way to through the ranks to Assistant Chief/Training Officer
2005 – Present: Anne Arundel County Volunteer Firefighter’s Association (AACVFA) Training Committee chairperson
2009 – 2010: Was elected President of the AVFD
2012 – 2013: Voting member of the Anne Arundel County Fire Department (AACFD) Strategic Plan Working Group
2013 – 2015: Served as alternate Safety Officer for the AACFD
2013 – Present: AACVFA Fire Advisory Board member
Steve served commendably as AAC Volunteer Coordinator after the passing of Jackie Olson to the hiring of the new coordinator.
Steve had over 20 years of commitment to our nation through his service in the US Navy, having reached the highest enlisted rank of E-9 Master Chief Petty Officer. He also had further years of service to our nation by working for a well know government agency.
Steve has given his entire adult life to serving others and has demonstrated his leadership skills throughout his military, civilian, and volunteer service.
