HALL OF FAME RULES

Background:
The Hall of Fame Award was established by the Executive Committee in 1996 as a result of a recommendation from President Leonard King to recognize distinguished service of individuals. The first emphasis is service to the Anne Arundel County Volunteer Firefighters Association, then service to the member company of the Association, the Maryland State Firemen’s Association, or any civic organizations.

Administration:
This award is to be administered by the Anne Arundel County Volunteer Firefighters Association Hall of Fame Committee. To be a member of the Hall of Fame committee, the member should have been inducted in the Hall of Fame.  The President appoints the Chairperson.  The committee should consist of the Chairperson and three or four other members.

Rules of Award:

  1. Inductees into the Hall of Fame shall be limited to five individuals, living or deceased, for each year after 2013.
     
  2. Names of individuals for nomination to the Hall of Fame may be received from the nominee’s home company or from any individual member of a Fire, Rescue, or EMS Company or member company of the Anne Arundel County Volunteer Firefighters Association.
  1. Nominations may be presented by individual members of the Hall of Fame Committee.
  1.  Nominations from the individual’s Fire, Rescue or EMS Company and individuals other than the Hall of Fame Committee shall be received by the Chairperson of the Hall of Fame Committee no later than the Association meeting in June of each year to be considered.
  1.  Nominations, in the form of a resume, shall be based upon distinguished years of service to the Anne Arundel County Firefighters Association and to the nominee’s individual company, Maryland State Firemen’s Association, or any civic organizations.
     
  2. Nominations will not be limited to members of the individual Fire, Rescue, and EMS companies of the Anne Arundel County Volunteer Firefighters Association.
     
  3. The selection of the inductees will be made by the members of the Hall of Fame Committee for presentation at the Annual Anne Arundel County Firefighters Association Convention in September of each year.
     
  4. All individuals inducted into the Hall of Fame are to receive a certificate from the Association noting their selection into the Hall of Fame with inductees name published in the annual Anne Arundel County Volunteer Firefighters Association Convention Book.
     
  5.  Inductee’s names shall also be added to the Perpetual Plaque that is displayed at the Association office.
     
  6.  Inductees shall also receive additional mementos of the occasion as determined by the committee.

Members will serve a 5-year term and may be reappointed by the current Association President when their term is up.
