Charles "Chuck" H. Tucker

The Odenton Volunteer Fire Company is proud to nominate Charles "Chuck" Tucker for the Association's Firefighter/EMT/Administrative member of the Quarter Award. Since joining the company in July 2007 Chuck has made steady strides in his education, knowledge, skills and abilities.
In a short time Chuck took the required courses and quickly established himself as a reliable and competent firefighter and EMT. He also recently became an ambulance driver and is now completing Fire OFficer I and Instructor I, which will prepare him for eventual promotion to lieutenant. In 2009, Chuck responded on 124 fire calles and had 26 stand-bys. In the first ten months of 2010, he has been on 115 fire calls, 54 ambulance calls, and 24 stand-bys.
Chuck has made several contributions to the company, including the development of a rookie book to help new members familiarize themselves with county and company operations. He has also created an eletronic study guide for all of our apparatus that provides an inventory of every piece on the units as well as a detailed explanation of its use. Chuck has also worked on recruitment drives that helped the company net nearly 75 new members in the last 6 months. He has a unique take on membership as he enlisted in the Army and understands the motivation of the volunteer.
Recently Chuck has begun assisting the company's training division with tracking member training for MFRI courses, required company and county training, and weekly duty night training. He developede a spreadsheet to help us accurately track member training more concisely.
Chuck is a solid, dedicated member of the Sunday night crew. He doesn't need to be told to start the nightly cleaning; he gets it started. he doesn't need to be told to tally the training numbers; he does it. Chuck knows his job performance retuirements and executes them well. he just does the job, no flair, no frills. That is what makes him so worthy of this nomination. He has done all this with no expectation of recognition.
Charles "Chuck" Tucker is a values and highly dedicated member of the Odenton Volunteer Fire Company, contributing to the organization in a variety of ways. For these reasons, he is very deserving of recognition as the Association's Firefighter/EMT/Administration Member of the Quarter.
