JEREMEY L. WEISS
Anne Arundel County Volunteer Firefighters Association
Firefighter/EMT/Admin Member of the Quarter
April 2017
The officers and member of the Odenton Volunteer Fire Company (OVFC) are pleased to nominate Lieutenant Jeremey L. Weiss for the Anne Arundel County Volunteer Firefighters Association’s Firefighter/EMT/Administrative Member of the Quarter Award.
Jeremey joined the OVFC in March 2016, after being a member and officer at another volunteer fire company for 14-years. In the short period since joining, he has become a valuable asset to our fire company and the community. Jeremey quickly assimilated into our organization and gained recognition and respect as an accomplished firefighter and leader. Hence, based on his previous credentials and experience as an officer, Jeremy was promoted to Lieutenant in November 2016.
Lieutenant Weiss has consistently been among the top responders since joining Odenton, having responded on 240 calls in the ten months of 2016 that he was a member. He has led his crew on emergency calls in an effective, proficient, and safe manner. He is always ready to assist in cleaning apparatus, preventive maintenance of tools, and station housework. He has organized and led several company details to fill other stations and participate in public events. Lieutenant Weiss also enjoys training our new members in basic firefighting and EMT skills, and in mentoring them for advancement. Jeremy is very energetic, courageous, and tireless in all that he does.
Jeremey’s support to the company has not stopped with his emergency operations role. This past Christmas season he volunteered to be our “Santa.” He planned the Santa runs and dedicated many hours to delivering toys to needy children. In addition, “Santa Jeremy” delivered food for Christmas dinner for ten local families.
Lieutenant Jeremey Weiss is a very dedicated and valuable member of our organization, and we proudly submit him for consideration for the Firefighter/EMT/Administrative Member of the Quarter Award.
Respectfully submitted,
David W. Lewis
