To: Outstanding Member of the Quarter Award Committee
Anne Arundel County Volunteer Firefighters Association
The officers and members of the Odenton Volunteer Fire Company (OVFC) are very proud to nominate EMT Robert (Rob) Brandon for the Anne Arundel County
Volunteer Firefighters Association’s Outstanding Member of the Quarter Award for the Second Quarter of 2022.
Rob Brandon joined OVFC in October 2010 and became certified and cleared as an Emergency Medical Technician in June 2011 and as ambulance driver in 2014. Rob has been one of our most dependable EMTs for many years, working as a part of our Wednesday night duty crew and staffing the ambulance overnight. He worked 71 shifts totaling 838 hours from January 1, 2021 through May 31, 2022. He responds on an average of 125 ambulance calls per year.
Rob is known for his competent and compassionate patient care, while remaining calm and confident in stressful situations. He also takes great pride in maintaining the ambulance in superb condition. His Patient Care Reports are always thorough and accurate. Rob is also an excellent mentor and trainer for our EMT students and new EMTs and takes great pride in working to get them cleared to ride on the ambulance. He ensures that the new EMTs are familiar with all equipment, policies, and procedures, and he closely monitors their skills and patient care to ensure that they are following proper protocols. Rob was awarded a Gift of Life Citation by the Anne Arundel County Fire Chief for his participation on March 28, 2018 in the successful resuscitation of a cardiac arrest patient.
Rob is also one of our few members who are responsible for mentoring and clearing new ambulance drivers after they have completed the Emergency Vehicle Operators Course. He carefully monitors the performance of the new drivers and gives them important feedback on their driving abilities and safety.
We are especially proud that Rob just received the Josiah A. Hunt, M.D., EMT of the Year Award from the Maryland State Firemen’s Association at its Annual Convention on June 21. This award is a clear testament to his commitment and skill as an EMS clinician.
Rob Brandon is a dedicated and highly competent member of our fire company, and we proudly recommend him for consideration as the AACVFA Outstanding Member of the Quarter.
Respectively submitted,
Charles H. Tucker
