DATE OF DEATH: June 2, 1931
CIRCUMSTANCES OF DEATH: Firefighter Hambrock had completed an ambulance call and departed the hospital
to return to quarters. As the ambulance crossed the railroad tracks at Cedar Park Road, the other crew members noticed
FF Hambrock had become unresponsive. They immediately returned to the hospital where he was declared deceased
as the result of a heart attack.
BURIAL LOCATION: St. Anne’s Cemetery – N.W. Street Annapolis, MD, (Anne Arundel County adc map 20-j-9).
Additional notes:
At the time of his death, he was serving as West Annapolis Volunteer Fire and Improvent Company's 13th
President and the first treasurer of the Anne Arundel County Volunteer Firefighters Association.
Back then it was Annapolis Emergency Hospital located at Franklin Street and Cathedral Street
Company 40 was located on the west corner of Melvin Avenue and Tucker Street (the present site of the
West Annapolis Elementary School). In 1931 it was a county fire station. In January of 1951, the area
was annexed by Annapolis and it was a city fire company until they relocated to Jennifer Road in 1973.
His burial site is within sight of the Maryland Fire-Rescue Services Memorial where he will be added to
the memorial this coming Saturday.
